Diet Plan? Excercise or food ideas?

October 302009

Hey I am about 5′ 3 am currently weighing in at 55.7 kilogrammes my BMI is 21.5 . I am flabby on my thighs, stomach, my calfs are jiggly too. Basically does anyone have exercises no diet pills coz I am only 13! Or food plans?

Sports i do:
Swimming lessons 1 hour a week
Hockey 1 hour a week.

Gym equipment I have:
Exercise bike
Stepper

Thanks!

Food: Eat lots of Protein, Whole Grains, and Fruits/Vegetables every day. Ever try mindful eating? Pay attention to how you feel, while you eat and notice when you start to feel full. It takes your brain like 15 minutes, I believe, to realize its stomach is full. Eat slowly, enjoy your food.
Go for small meals every 4 hours rather than 3 giant courses.

You also should consider stepping up your aerobics/cardio. Try to put in an extra hour per week of cardio exercise. You’re already getting two hours from the swimming and hockey I assume.

Losing weight takes time.
Hope that helps

What is your zodiac sign? Does any of this describe you?

How much time does it take for noticeable weight loss on a raw food diet ?

Posted in diet food | 7 Comments »

my nutritionist has put me on a raw food diet because I am approaching morbid obesity and choloesterol is high. Im gung ho about it and determined. just wondering how long it would take for noticeable weight loss ?

I didn’t have a detox past about 4 days and it wasn’t bad for me… after that… If you are big like you say… all the roughage that you will be eating will clean you out quickly, which will amount to more than you think. After that it will begin to rapidly drop your weight as you lose… it may go through a stationary period after you lose some weight for a week or so while your body adjusts, but stick with it and it will net you massive loss quickly… good luck.

What percentage of your diet is whole foods?

October 302009

Just wondering how many people consume a large or a very little amount of whole foods in their diet. When i say whole foods I mean fresh fruits, vegetables, and etc. Nothing pre-packaged or canned?

Probably 60%. Our family has just recently changed our eating habits and we all feel great. I have lost over 30 lbs and my hubby has lost over 25. I would love to switch to 100%, but it’s really not easy. Growing your own garden in the Arizona heat is extremely difficult.

I want to switch my dog to a raw food diet?

October 272009

I’ve done research on this, I’ve joined several yahoo groups, etc. Since my dog has been on kibble for a little while(Blue Wilderness) everyone has suggested slowly started adding in raw foods and taking away kibble. Everyone has suggested starting off with a raw egg in the shell on top of a little kibble.

However, I cannot find the answer to one question. Can my dog eat the shell as well? Is the shell a good part of the raw food diet?

I switched my dogs over cold turkey, pardon the pun! They also get organic whole eggs, shell and all. They love it and it is good for them.

What are the best diet foods on the market?

Anything that is not processed or man made. Not sure about the sherbet, but read the label it will tell you.

What are some good, quick diet recipes?

October 262009

I’m not on a particular diet, just eating healthier (and less) to gradually lose weight. So far, all I know about diet food is general stuff, like fish and salads are good. And that’s all I’ve made, really.

Also, is steamed short-grain white rice healthy? I love the stuff, so I hope it is.

White rice is not healthy. It’s a simple carbohydrate that your body converts into sugar. Sorry.

My husband and I maintain a normal weight, although we do gain weight from time to time. We eat whatever we want, but we try not to overeat, we avoid sugary foods, fatty foods, and grease. We try to exercise too, although I admit we usually fail. We are good at keeping our weight down and losing it if we gain a few pounds by watching our diet.

Some food ideas: Whole wheat tortillas, avocados, almonds, asparagus, lean cuts of beef, turkey, egg white omelets, sandwiches on 100% whole grain bread, South Beach snack crackers, fat-free cottage cheese, sugar-free yogurt, whole wheat spaghetti noodles. You get the idea. Just don’t deprive yourself, and when you do eat pizza or dessert, don’t overeat and you’ll be fine.

how can i make a good healthy homemade pizza?

October 262009

(i like all foods, ive added spinach and mushrooms.)

BTW how do i make the cheese melt rather then just browning. i set the over on 450F for 10 to 15 minutes. i tryed turning it down to 350 but the cheese doesnt melt and spread like you see on delivery pizzas. thanks
what about grilling it?

Roasted Vege Pizza –

Cooking Time

15 minutes
Add ingredients to shopping list
Ingredients (serves 4)

* 2 x 335g 97% fat-free pizza bases
* 1/3 cup basil pesto
* 2 cups sliced roasted vegetables (such as potato, pumpkin, onion)
* 1 cup (90g) chopped roasted turkey, skin removed
* 8 cherry tomatoes, halved
* 1/2 cup grated light mozzarella cheese
* 30g baby spinach

Method

1. Preheat oven to 220°C. Arrange pizza bases on 2 baking trays. Spread with pesto.
2. Divide vegetables, turkey and tomatoes between pizza bases. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake for 10 minutes. Swap pizzas over in oven and bake for 5 minutes or until bases are crisp and cheese is melted. Top with spinach. Season with salt and pepper and serve.

Notes & tips

* Variation: This recipe works equally well with roasted chicken instead of turkey.
* Tip: To reduce the fat and kilojoule content, replace the pizza bases with Lebanese bread and the pesto with hommus or baba ghanoush.
* Cost per serve using leftover roasted vegetables and turkey

The above recipe is quite good, for the cheese problem you have – the key is slow and low heat cooking, and I would also suggest grilling it, but remember on a low heat.
If you have a fan-bake and grill in one option, use that.

Good luck! :)

Diet plan based on food I actually like?

October 262009

Does anyone know of an online based diet plan that is created that allows you to pick what foods you do and don’t like so you can create meals you’ll actually eat? I’ve tried lots of diet plans but they all include foods that I hate.

The plans can be free or paid, I don’t really care at this point. I’m willing to do anything to lose this weight.
No spam or no fad diets, please.
dadnbob, I’ve tried eating normal foods but less and it makes me SO hungry. I have even done that plus drink fiber water and I’m still hungry.

just try sparkpeople.com
its free AND you eat whatever you want just don’t overdo the calories and fat, it can track it all for you. It teaches you about proper portion size and it can also give you fitness plans.
You will be soooo hungry at first, but after a few days you should adjust. It’s possible if you’re not actually tracking what you’re eating you are in fact eating too little.
And drinking 8, 8 oz glasses of water a day will help too. Most people eat when they’re thirsty.

I have 3 cats one is a year old, the other 2 are 8 years old, how can i change their diets to mature food?

October 262009

how can i change their diets, without including the year old cat?she eats what they eat, do i sneak her off to eat by herself? i know she still needs her high protein food, or is their a food for all, mature and young cats?

All your cats need a high quality meat protein food whatever their "life stage". Healthy cats eat a 60% meat protein diet at all stages of their lives and it is only the inexpensive, poor quality pet foods who come up with this promotional nonsense.

You have many choices for quality pet food: Natural Balance, Eagle Pack, Solid Gold, CA Natural, Felidae, Blue etc. A good balance of canned and dry is also the best food for all your cats.

Go to www.littlebigcat.com and read Dr. Jean Hovfe’s articles titled "Selecting a Good Commercial Pet Food and "What Cats Should Eat", "Why Cats Need Canned Food", "Does Dry Food Clean the Teeth?"
