Diet food and recipes. Help?

August 302009

I need some healthy food ideas while im on this diet. Theres no name for it, Im just trying to loose about 20-30 pounds. I’m riding my bike, jogging, and walking a lot. I just need breakfast, lunch, and dinner Ideas! PLEASE HELP!

Thankkkks!

i’m kind of on an independant diet as well. for breakfast i stick w/ fruit or a granola bar, its not a big breakfast but it does the job. and then i’ll either have a big class of water or some juice. here are some ideas on what i eat. i eat lots of soups, like chicken and noodle, tomato, and ect. they are low calorie, fill you up, and its very hydrating. i put a few crackers in it or have a piece of bread if im still hungry. some other ideas are obviously salads. i make fruit salad a lot, but w/o the sugar just google for recipis for that. and this is something i eat a lot of. its a chicken wrap. i buy chicken patties in the frozen food and then microwave one of them. i put lettace tomato onion, fat free ranch or mayo, and anything else like pickles or something. then slice up the chicken and put it on the wrap, roll it up and eat it. sometimes i’ll use lunch meat instead of chicken. for sides i usually have baby carrots w/ fat free ranch or cole slaw, something green. i’ve always heard that when you look at your plate their should be a variety of colors on it, if its all bland (like a buger and fries) its not good for you. i also eat a lot of apples for snacks. also get some whole grain cereal, i eat it w/ skim milk, thats good too. mostly i drink a lot of water, b/c it curbs your appitite, and when you exersie you sweat off all of the water weight so thats good. also i’ve learned not to deprive yourself of a snack every now and again, just dont do it often, make a goal, like 2 sweets a week. b/c if you dont allow that then you may over induldge later on. good luck and if you have any other questions just email me

Is anyone else frustrated with ediets meal-delivery service??

August 302009

The food is not that bad, but it wasn’t really working for me. When I try to cancel, however, I’m butting my head against a brick wall. I’ve tried (unsuccessfully) to reach a customer service rep by email, phone (left many messages) and finally by registered letter and still the food keeps coming and I’m sure the bills will as well. Am I legally responsible for paying for shipments after I’ve cancelled their service via email and registered mail? How can such a huge internet company have such sh*tty customer service? Is this all part of their grand scam? Help, I’m up to my neck in mediocre diet food.

I’m right there with you. Apparently ediets rolled out this service without getting all the kinks out of the system. I’ve been trying to reach them via every avenue I could find and have not been able to get in touch with them through any means. I had the charges reversed by my credit card company after showing proof that I had cancelled my membership via a certified letter. I would think that would work for you as well. It’s a hassle and it took a few days for a definitive answer but the charges were removed. As for the food deliveries, I would refuse them if possible and have them returned to ediets. I hope things work out for you. Ediets is going to lose a lot of customers and a lot of money over this fiasco and they deserve every bit of negative press they get for all the frustration they have and are still causing unsuspecting clients.

Is an all people food diet ok if you plan them?

I wanted to know if it is bad for your dog {shih tzu}to eat all human food instead of dog food. Not like pizza but like burger and fruits and vegies any ideas?

Dalonzo is partially correct,if human food is just being supplementd along with dog food,it is recomended that it not exceed 10% of daily intake.Dogs can live on a so called people food diet. Some people feed the BARF(bones and raw meat) diet, and their are other diets either cooked,or a mix of cooked and raw.Research is the important thing. The dogs diet still has to be formulated, and balanced to be sure it is getting the propper nutrients.I would suggest talking to your vet about the benefits and drawbacks of a diet like this. After you decide if you want to switch, your vet will be able to either help,or tell you where to find the most reliable info on a human food diet.
It’s not as easy as just cooking a meal for your family,or yourself.

Has anyone tried liquid diets? Is blending your food like a liquid diet?

I know many people have asked this question before. I want to try something similar to a liquid diet. I want to just eat my food in a blended form like fruits and veggies. I’m not looking for a quick fix to weight loss just wanted to try something different.

they are counter productive. liquid calories are digested faster than whole foods so the body spends less energy. they don’t keep satisfied as long and tend to cause overeating in many.

Will my 7-day detox supplements help at all if I stick to my regular diet?

August 302009

I’m not the worst eater in the world – I had a Zone bar, some yogurt, Chinese food today. I know I have room for improvement, mainly I had no fruits or vegetables. But will the compounds in the supplements still help somewhat with detoxifying my blood, cleaning my liver, making me feel better, etc.?

Yes, they will help. The lovely side effect of going to the bathroom all the time is one you have to look forward to. It should help you feel a little better.

My healthy diet is running up food bills like crazy!!?

August 302009

I buy tuna, and lotsa healthy stuff to eat and stay away from junk food because I’m not a big fan of it. But, the bills are pretty high per month. Could anyone suggest cheaper yet healthier food options which wouldn’t make me gain weight? Thanks.

I feel your pain, I am a college student who loves healthy, delicious food and I can’t afford it. I love salmon (which is prettey expensive) and fresh produce (but living alone, they spoil quickly). I also love diversity, so I hate to buy the same thing and eat it over and over. Here are a few ideas that I have come up with that are healthy, delicious, and pretty cheap. I used to buy the prewashed bags of "spring mix" for salads, but they are pretty expensive and would go bad fast, so now I just buy spinach. It is healthier than iceburg lettuce, and if it starts to go bad I just toss it in a frying pan with olive oil cooking spray, onions, and a little balsalmic vinegar. The olive oil cooking spray is much cheaper than olive oil… and is zero calories… so I swear by that. At breakfast time I love eggs and to keep them healthy I eat one whole egg with one egg white. You can do only egg whites if you want, but about two whole eggs per week is perfectly healthy. Buy your tuna or other more expensive, non-parishable items in bulk. I shop at different grocery stores depending on their specials, and use coupns especially at stores that double them. I try to eat a lot of the same stuff just cooked differently so I don’t have to waste so if I get eggs for breakfast I will maybe make egg salad sandwhiches for lunch (i don’t use all the yolk and use fat free mayo). Get bone in chicken breast, its much cheaper just a lot more work. I either bone it and pan fry it in cooking spray or bake it in the oven (leaving the bone to bake it actually makes it much moister). There are certain things that just cost more and its awful but you just have to spring for them. One thing I love but find ridiculously expensive is pita chips. So, I buy whole grain pita bread and cut it into wedges, spray with cooking spray and sprinkle with garlic (or any flavoring) and bake in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes or so. They are just as good and half the price. And 1/2 pita made into chips (it makes 8 for me) is only about 70 calories! I dip these in salsa or hummus. You can do the same thing with whole grain bread to make croutons for salad to save on money and calories.
